Catching Up With Harper: Boys Group!

If you walk by the playground during 3rd-5th grade recess when I’m out there, you’ll likely hear at least 4 students ask, “Is there Boys Group this week?”

Every Friday afternoon after early release from school, our group of 16-21 boys from 3rd-5th grade stick around for Boys Group. It’s a time to hang out, eat snacks, learn important life skills, and spend time with each other.

Each week we have a different activity planned to improve teamwork, promote social skills, and create friendships among our Aspen elementary students. My students are a huge part of setting the expectations for this group, as well as holding each other accountable throughout the week.

Last Friday, we spent time working together with legos and practicing our communication skills through a drawing activity. As always, we wrapped up the group with free time on the football field.

I am always so impressed by how the boys support each other while in Boys Group. They love to be there, to have the school all to themselves, and to learn and play together.
