Behavioral health is a primary Area of Focus for CIS of New Mexico. Through the implementation of our evidence based CIS Integrated Student Support Model and our statewide Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention program, CISNM works hard to support the behavioral health of youth inside and outside the classroom.

Last school year (2023-24), a total of 1,025 students participated in CISNM-led social-emotional learning groups. Student Success Facilitators led 72 groups, and coordinated 579 sessions with our community partners such as Girl’s Inc., Gerard’s House and Sky Center across 12 schools in Santa Fe.

This school year, we have travelled to 10 counties to facilitate trainings with over 2,750 school colleagues, students and community members from Las Cruces to Taos, Newcomb to Cuba, Bernalillo to Reserve.

A survey of staff in the schools we support found that 96% of school staff and educators find CISNM impactful in helping students to develop social skills and life skills that support behavioral health.

From 2017 to 2024, CISNM has supported the behavioral health of 17,423 students – driving consistent improvements in social-emotional well-being, attendance, and engagement across partner schools.
