Meet the Rising Graduates of 2024: Elijah

Communities In Schools of New Mexico is proud to be celebrating our tenth graduation season with the Santa Fe Public Schools. Since we began working in Capital High School a decade ago, the school’s graduation rate has risen by almost 30%!

This year, our coordinators (like Sinte, pictured above with his student, Elijah) are case managing a record number of rising graduates – and they are ALL on track to graduate on time! We hope you will help us celebrate the achievements of these incredible students by supporting the CIS of New Mexico Sponsor a Graduate Fund today!

What Elijah’s teachers say…

“Elijah is one of the kindest students to both his peers and adults.”

“He notices when others are struggling and offers words of support or anything else they may need.”

“He’s the person that would give the shirt off of his back if someone was without.”

“He has grown academically, and has put in a lot of work to grow as a student.”

Elijah’s Site Coordinator Sinte writes…

“I considered Elijah for my caseload over the past couple of years, but his grades were generally good so I had less concern for him. As I got to know him further, I found that he has overcome a lot of barriers to get to the level of success that he has achieved. Elijah hasn’t had the easiest life. I have been inspired by his motivation to finish high school and better his life and the lives of those around him. Due to his great perseverance, attention to detail and consistency, Elijah will be walking as a graduate in May. He has the confidence and charisma to tell folks how and what he feels and provide inspiring words to those in his life. I know he will take that with him into the world and continue share this gift with our community. I’m happy that I added him to my caseload and I hope I have had some positive impact on this young man’s life.”

Will you help us celebrate the achievements of Elijah and his fellow CIS Graduates with a contribution to the CIS of New Mexico Sponsor a Graduate Fund today? 100% of the gift you give will celebrate students who have overcome incredible odds to make it to the finish line.
