Shaun Grady
Bio
Shaun is a Portfolio Manager at the New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA), where he helps manage investments that support the retirement security of public servants across the state. He holds a degree from the University of New Mexico and has built his career around work that carries a strong public service mission.
After graduating from college, Shaun began his career in public policy before transitioning into the nonprofit sector. Motivated by a desire to expand his impact, he later returned to school to pursue a path in investment management. Today, he is proud to help steward retirement funds for New Mexico’s public employees, work that reflects both his professional interests and personal commitment to the well-being of the state’s workforce.
His perspective on financial security is shaped in part by his upbringing. Growing up, his father owned a small construction company and, like many small business owners, did not have access to a pension. As a result, his father worked well into his later years. Experiences like this instilled in Shaun a deep appreciation for the importance of long-term financial stability and the role institutions can play in supporting working families.
A native of Rio Rancho and a graduate of its public schools, Shaun experienced firsthand the diversity of New Mexico’s student population. His classmates came from a wide range of backgrounds, each with different levels of support and resources at home. Watching friends navigate both challenges and successes gave him a lasting appreciation for the barriers many students face and the importance of strong community support systems.
Today, he and his wife, a speech therapist specializing in early childhood intervention, continue to see the real challenges many families encounter. These experiences reinforce his belief in the mission of Communities In Schools and the importance of providing students and teachers with the support they need to succeed.
Shaun is honored to serve on the board of Communities In Schools and to contribute to an organization dedicated to helping students overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.
